I was going to revive this thread in honour of the great man's 150th, but I see that Lance has beat me to the bump!

Happy Birthday, Sir Edward. Maybe someday the continental Europeans and Americans will understand what the excitement is about. Not holding my breath, though... Crying or Very sad

Ah yes! There are advantages in being 9 hours ahead of GMT. Laughing

And what do you think was paying on ABC Classic FM radio over lunch today? The Dream of Gerontius, no less. It doesn't get much better than that!
(Well maybe it does because tonight's broadcast has the Elgar Violin Concerto as its centrepiece! )

The annual BUMP.

But I forgot last year, why didn't anyone remind me?

Another glorious year with the music of Sir Edward Elgar. He is such a treasure, I love his music so dearly. There is always something new to discover.

Happy Birthday!

I just noticed this on a great blog here in the US on RC Church doings

www.whispersintheloggia.blogspot.com

and went to one of the St. Louis story links for this program - looks very contemporary with a few choice standards carrying on the tradition

The great Sir Edward Elgar's birthday has once again arrived! A moment of silence please...

I hear there's going to be a celebration in the church yard at St. Wulstan's...

It is Sir Edward Elgar's birthday again!

The violin concerto -with Hillary Hahn- is truly a gift.
