I've been asked for this hymn, which was sung at the dedication of a stained glass window, 100 years ago. Has anyone heard of it, and could give me the words and tune?

Regards,

Nigel

Are you sure they don't mean 'Holy Father, in Thy Mercy' ?

Hi Lance,

Apparently not. I've been told that it was definitely 'Keeping' and not mercy. Of course, after 100 years they may have got it wrong Rolling Eyes

Nigel
Perhaps they mean the hymn "Now the labourer's task is o'er" which has a chorus for each verse "Father in thy gracious keeping, Leave we now thy servant sleeping" This hymn is used at funerals, and of course some stained glass windows are given in remembrance of loved ones.
Just a thought!

There is a hymn by this title listed in "Alexanders Hymns No 3" published in 1945. Afraid I don't have a copy though!

Many thanks. I'll pass both those on to the organiser of the service and see if we can came up with the hymn they want.

Regards,

Nigel

As a follow up, I've Googled 'Alexander's Hymns No 3'. It was, apparently, an Australian publication used in the Chapman Alexander Missions. Does anyone have access to a copy and could send me the hymn?

Many thanks,

Nigel

When do you need this music Nigel? If what Aynho says is correct, the State Library of Victoria has a copy of Alexander's Hymns No.3 and I can possibly get in there this week to check it out.

Good morning, Lance,

Many thanks for your offer. The hymn is for a service at the end of the month - not at my church, but one where a friend is organist. If you are able to scan and email a copy, then it would be very much appreciated. Sorry for the rushed message -I'm late for work Sad

Regards,

Nigel

Nigel
I now have the music to the hymn Holy Father, In Thy Keeping.
Please PM your email address so I can send you the attachment.
I believe the title to be a misprint, as the hymn is the same as Holy Father In Thy Mercy, but I'll send it to you anyway!
